Comparison of high frequency and hot air welding:

    High Frequency Welding

    Hot air and hotwedge

    Types of materials

    PVC, PU, ETFE, PTFE

    PE, Thin PVC

    technologies

Heating is generated inside the material by the action of high frequency radiation from metal electrodes. This causes the layers of material to melt and fuse together.

The heating is carried out by hot air or by a handcuff on the surface of the material from the outside. The weld is formed on the surface of the fabrics to be joined.

    Welding speed and time

The HF welding technique is the most efficient and fastest in time during one welding cycle. The layers of material are heated in the same amount of time, regardless of how thick the material is. The cooling time is also faster, through oil cooling.

The welding time depends on the thickness of the series. The thicker the layer, the longer the welding time. There is a greater risk of overheating of the material.

    Weld quality

The strength of the weld is the same as the strength of the material. The weld is very flexible and there is no smoke or odour.

The weld is formed on the surface of the fabric, which makes it less durable. It is also less flexible due to the hard seam formed during welding. Welded fabrics can produce smoke and unpleasant odours.
